Matthew Anderson
Section Manager

A life-long radio enthusiast, Matt became involved with Amateur Radio in late 2002 after learning about a regional UHF radio link project. In 2004, he began volunteering as an amateur radio operator, supporting emergency communications at the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP RACES). During Hurricane Katrina, Matt and other amateur radio operators were instrumental in relaying messages to assist with rescue and operational activities in New Orleans and surrounding areas.

Currently Matt also serves as the Chairman/State Frequency Coordinator for the Louisiana Council of Amateur Radio Clubs.

First licensed as KE5FHW in June 2005 during Field Day with the K5TIT Club in Rusk, TX. I've had my current call since 2006. Upgraded to General at HamCom in June 2006 and finally to Amateur Extra in 2018. Currently serving as an Assistant Section Manager for the ARRL Louisiana Section.

Mike McCrary

Mike is an ARRL Life Member and as served as an Assistant Section Manger since 2018. He is an ARRL and QCWA life member.  In 2011 he was awarded Amateur of the Year for the State of Louisiana.

Joe was first licensed in 1992 and holds an Extra Class license. He is the current Public Information Coordinator for the Louisiana Section, DEC for Region 8 ARES and the President of the Louisiana Delta Radio Club.

 

Jim Coleman

Was first licensed in 1968 as WN4LPP in Raleigh, North Carolina, and operated the North Carolina State University club station W4ATC. Have built many home brew projects including a legal limit transmatch and 2 x 4-1000A grid driven linear RF amp. Now operates ICOM 775DSP, Force 12 monobanders, TriEX crankup, and Henry Amp.

Long time paramedic. Chairman of the Board for Washington Parish 9-1-1. Member of many 9-1-1 related local and national committees.

Licensed as WN5FXN in March, 1963 and, later, as a General Class, WA5JSK, I re-entered amateur radio in 2000 receiving my third callsign, KD5MLD. I have had the good fortune to earn my Extra Class license in 2010. i enjoy digital modes of communication including CW. My SKCC NR is 9574. I am an active member of the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club, an ARRL Affiliate Service Club, in Baton Rouge, LA. I am a Life member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, Chapter 109. I am a member of Ten Ten, #76262, and the Pelican Chapter, # 173.

My current equipment include the IC-746, IC-706MKIIG, IC-2820H for DStar, and Yaesu FTM100DR/DE for my Honda Odessey. In addition I use the AmQRP's NUE-PSK Digital Modem for PSK31.  My antennas include an inverted G5RV, various dipole configurations, and the GAP Challenger DX . No amplifiers as I run barefoot.  HTs inclulde the Icom IC 91AD and the Yaesu FT2DR.

I am an active member of ARES serving as the ADEC for Louisiana ARES Region 2's Training & NCS Coordinator.  I have particpated with the American Red Cross, Capital Area Chapter Communication Teams in pass Hurricanes, Andrew, Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, and Isaac and the Greater Baton Rouge Flood of 2016.   As a Registered Nurse and Respiratory Therapist, I assist with medical communication for our disaster health services during emergencies.  I am an active member of the AMARS.

I am an Eagle Scout and registered as an active Scouter with the Istrouma Area Council, BSA, teaching Radio Merit Badge, Emergency Preparedness, and Wilderness First Aid.   I have served as our Council Commissioner.  Presently, I am the Chartered Organization's Representative for St. George Catholic Church that sponsors Pack, Troop, and Crew 136.  I serve as the Trustee for K5ASR, Avondale Scout Reservation Radio Society near Clinton, LA.
